This dish, which is a classic of Turkish cuisine, actually belongs to a region in the South of the country. It has become so loved and famous that it is consumed lovingly nationwide.

This relatively healthy recipe gets its main benefit from steak. In addition to having very low carbohydrates, it keeps you full for a long time and its taste is always remembered.

Try this dish, then serve it to your guests and enjoy the compliments.

This dish, which is a favorite of the country’s most famous restaurants, involves chopping the steak in equal parts, blending it with vegetables and spices, placing it on an earthenware ceramic tray, and baking it in a wood-fired oven for hours.

So much so that the taste of this dish baked under these conditions is better than ever.

Woodfire gives it an incredible taste. Of course, we cannot find this oven in our homes, but we can still create it without losing any of its flavors.

If you have an earthenware ceramic baking pan, it will get you one point ahead. If you don’t have one, any baking tray will work fine.

Ingredients

  • 17 oz. steak
  • 2 green sweet chili peppers
  • 1 green hot chili pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tbsp. black pepper
  • 4 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1/2 tbsp. pepper paste
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Start with preheating your oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Then chop your steak. If you are going to do the chopping process instead of your butcher, be careful to chop the steak into very small pieces.
  3. Then place them on your baking tray.
  4. Finely chop the onion lengthwise and thin, then add it to the meat.
  5. Chop the garlic (peel and cut into 4 equal parts). Add them, too.
  6. Chop the peppers into rounds and add to the tray.
  7. Peel the tomato, chop it into cubes, and add them. Cube steaks in oven
  8. Now pour the oil and prepare the tomato paste. Our method is slightly different.
  9. Bring a little less than 1 cup of water for this.
  10. Put the tomato and pepper paste in it and mix it with water until the pastes dissolve.
  11. Drizzle it over the meal along with the water.
  12. After adding all the spices, mix them all and bake in the preheated oven until the water in the meal is completely gone. And voila!

Notes

  1. Tomato is a very important ingredient for this dish. That is to say, this dish is meaningless without tomatoes, but the amount of tomatoes added is very important.
  2. If you add more than a medium tomato, it will dilute the dish more than necessary and spoil the taste. That’s why a medium tomato is the perfect size for this dish.
  3. Even if you’re a spice lover, use only the spices in the ingredient list for this meal. Otherwise, it may not provide the exact taste we want.
  4. If you think that the meat is still not tendered when the food has completely drained the water, add a little more water and continue baking.
  5. The fact that the food is juicy is also an option that improves its taste. Keep it a little juicy to catch it.

Suggestions:

Turkish-style strained yogurt is the best side dish for this meal. To make it, cover a strainer with a paper towel.

Put 2 cups of Greek yogurt on it. Put the strainer in the refrigerator with a bowl under it and let it sit for at least 4 hours until the water runs out entirely.

Occasionally, replace the paper towel with a dry one. Then, put the completely drained yogurt on a plate, add salt, and mix.

2. Serve with a bowl of green salad.

3. If the meal is left for the next day, put it in the fridge and reheat it using the oven instead of the microwave.
